"As a confirmed devotee of all things Parliament, P-Funk and general funk-ness, it seemed obvious to me that the opening track after the introductory fanfare to the album would have to be a big, bass inspired, heavy funk track George Clinton stylee. The opening rap thingy includes the line "If you’re looking for a sign ‘cause you rhythm’s outta line, you can absolutely find a purple friend in mind." that I was challenged to include on the album somewhere, because of my love of the colour Purple (can you tell?). The challengers were Joe and Jed Williamson at the WOMAD festival in Reading in 2001 (after a wee smoke) - not that they remember!"
